CDCA | Kids International

The Child Day Care Association (CDCA) provides leadership and innovation in promoting quality child care, successful early childhood development and work/family balance. From 1950 to 1970, directors of child care centers in St. Louis, including all nine centers then funded by the United Way, frequently expressed the need for a central organization for child care.

Today, the CDCA has a staff of 55 with an annual budget of $2.3 million. It has three programs: Child Care Resource and Referral, Child Nutrition Services, and First Steps. The agency assists over 8000 families find child care, fields over 16,000 phone calls for advice, reimburses over 800 child care providers for feeding 15,000 young children and supports almost 600 families in accessing services for their babies with developmental delays or disabilities.
